Every Good Gift

We mortal men seldom realize how totally dependent we are upon God.

James 1:17: Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

If I am going to give you anything that is good or perfect I must first get it from God.

1 John 4:19: We love him, because he first loved us. Galatians 5:22a: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, . . .

If we are going to have love for God we must first get it from Him. If I am to have love for you I must first get it from God. If you have love for me you got it from God. Having trouble loving someone? Ask Him to give you love for that one.

Philippians 4:19: But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

If I am going to supply anything that you need I must first get it from God.

John 14:6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. 1 John 5:12: He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

If I am going to give you any of the truth you need I must have Jesus living in me. If I am going to tell you how to come to the Father I must know the way myself. The way is Jesus. If any of us are going to have eternal life we must have Jesus.

James 1:5: If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. Psalms 111:10: The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

If I am going to impart to you any wisdom I must first get it from the Lord.

Proverbs 1:7: The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

If I am going to impart to you any relevant knowledge I must first get it from God.

Galatians 5:16: This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Psalms 84:11: For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

Romans 7:18: For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

Isaiah 53:6: All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

We throw a monkey wrench into all of it by walking in the flesh. Think about that. We mess it all up FOR OURSELVES AND FOR EVERYONE ELSE we might encounter whenever we go our own way. By the way, God gives me His good things for me just as much as for you. And He wants you to pass them along to others too. I ask Him to give me something good for me and for you most every day. You may not agree but I don*t believe He has ever failed to answer that prayer.
